On July 15, the Minister of Economics and Digital Affairs, Prof. Dr. Andreas Pinkwart, visited the digital model region OWL to find out about the activities of the projects supported in the region. Since 2018, a total of 13 projects in the digital model region have been funded by the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Innovation, Digitization and Energy (MWIDE) with 17.3 million euros in the “Digital Model Regions in NRW” program. During his visit to Paderborn, Minister Pinkwart praised the commitment and work on the projects. To express that OWL wants to continue to be a digital pioneer, Mayor Michael Dreier presented the Minister with a corresponding declaration of intent at the end of the visit.
Among other things, the “Integrated Security Pilot Region” (INSPIRE) project was presented as part of the OWL Digital Model Region. INSPIRE deals with the integration of existing and new individual solutions (smart home/building, people flow measurement, drones and social media) in the field of operational support for civil security, thus enabling innovative applications for emergency services and the population. A pilot operation will be established in Paderborn, which is expandable and can be transferred to other regions.
We would like to thank Minister Pinkwart for giving us the opportunity to exchange ideas with him and look forward to further exciting activities in INSPIRE and around the Digital Model Region OWL! #INSPIREprojekt
