Last week, we welcomed the Danish and Dutch project partners from our EU-project LINKS in Paderborn for a two-day working meeting. The first day focused on the planning for the next project phase. Guests from Denmark included partners from the Greater Copenhagen Fire Department, the municipality of Frederiksberg, the University College Copenhagen and the University of Copenhagen. From the Netherlands, partners came from Sitech Services and the Zuid-Limburg Security Region. After a presentation of the Dutch case (industrial hazards) and the Danish case (flooding), the different objectives for the next project phase were presented. Based on this, it was discussed how the LINKS results we developed (especially the Social Media and Crowdsourcing Technologies Library and the LINKS Community Center (https://links.communitycenter.eu)) can contribute to the achievement of the objectives and how these can be applied and evaluated by the partners. This was followed by a presentation of technical options for analyzing data from social media for the enrichment of the situational awareness in crisis situations.
